Any self employed creative relies on their reputation to find work, and their are many ways to build that rep. For Motion Designer Robert, he committed to a route that would take 5 years or hard work and promotion for his animation SAUSAGE. The short film is in the midst of proving it's worth with last weeks online release and the media attention that goes with it.
The self funded 7 minute film has toured the worlds film festivals over the last year or so, picking up 8 international awards, one of which qualified it for the Oscars. It's those very accolades that Robert is now using to gain the attention of the press and industry, all with the aim of landing higher profile projects. Grieves says "Just being able to use the words Oscars and Awards opens doors and makes prospective commissioners take me more seriously. Now that the film has been so well received online, I can also show an appeal that reaches beyond the traditional establishments."
Robert has plenty of impressive clients from his 15 year career in Motion Graphics. He regularly works for BBC, Disney Channel and The History Channel from the broadcast industry, and MadameTussauds, Cirque du Soleil and LOCOG from the entertainment sector. But recent experiences online have inspired Roberts future plans, with online marketing campaigns for The Red Cross, Big Lottery Fund and Adidas. With his intensions to continue creating animation for high end web campaigns, the online awareness from SAUSAGE will be crucial for bringing those desirable clients to his door…
