Engineering is one of the key industries that have embraced contracting over the last 20 years. Projects are often set to exact time scales so it makes sense to take on engineers for short periods of time rather than having long term employees and the added expense to a business that this entails.

As an engineering contractor in the UK you have fantastic opportunities to secure regular contracts with many different firms. You can choose your working hours and often where you want to work from, you don't have to be part of the office politics, and you can earn more than twice as much as an employed engineer.

It is not uncommon for engineering contractors to be earning £45-60 per hour for contracts that last anything up-to a year or longer. This is a substantial contract value and coupled with the freedom of being a contractor, the reasons to contract keep growing and growing.
